We give cancer patients in Laurel and its surrounding communities access to state-of-the-art cancer care close to home. Our practice utilizes some of the newest technology developed for cancer care, including Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), External Beam Radiotherapy, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), and 3-D Simulation and Treatment Planning. We personalize our patients’ cancer care, treating them in an environment of warmth, compassion, and hope. For more than 20 years, we have proudly provided radiation oncology services to the Laurel area, and we look forward to continuing the tradition as Laurel Cancer Care.

Advanced Treatment Options

Our practice uses some of the newest technology developed for cancer care, including external beam radiotherapy, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), and 3-D simulation and treatment planning.

External beam radiation therapy.

This advanced treatment option uses a linear accelerator machine that produces radiation with a variety of energy options that can be used for the treatment of all types of cancer.

3-Dimensional Simulation with 3-Dimensional Treatment Planning

3-D simulation is the process of mapping the location of the tumor and placing marks on the skin surface for external beam radiation therapy. 3-D treatment planning decreases radiation side effects while delivering a high dose to the tumor. Image fusion allows multiple modalities including PET and MRI to be integrated into the 3-D treatment plan.

Intensity Modulated RadioTherapy (IMRT)

One of the most precise forms of radiation therapy available, IMRT delivers high doses of radiation targeted directly to cancer cells. IMRT adjusts the intensity of the radiation beam to deliver a sculpted dose of radiation to the tumor while minimizing the dose to adjacent, healthy tissue.
