Community

It’s our great pleasure to give back to local and national cancer communities. We are committed to education, fundraising and celebrations.

Doing the Right Thing

We strongly believe in contributing to the community in which we serve, live and play. We are committed to raising awareness and supporting organizations that improve the lives of patients and families. We are proud to be sponsors and participants in local events which include:

Krewe of Docs
Krewe of Docs is an annual fundraiser where local doctors serve a Cajun style meal at a Mardi Gras dinner. The event includes a silent auction, door prizes and a band. All money raised stays local to help provide the financial assistance to our patients including:

  • Wigs, hats and prostheses
  • Gasoline vouchers
  • Transportation to and from treatments
  • Nutritional supplements such as Boost and Ensure
  • Medical supplies such as wheelchairs, home health supplies, etc.
  • Financial assistance for x-rays or tests that require upfront payment

Relay for Life Survivor Dinner
Laurel Cancer Care hosts a dinner the week of Relay for Life. Over 200 guests (survivors and their caregivers) are honored and celebrated at the dinner.

Fun Days
We host days to have fun with our patients at the clinic including picnic days, Halloween costume contests and other activities to honor patients and caregivers.

Health Fairs
Educating the community is an important part of our mission. We participate in local health fairs and support events hosted by South Central Regional Medical Center.
